Last night was an incredible experience as I gazed at the Sturgeon Moon! While my photo could be slightly clearer, the beauty of the moment was truly awe-inspiring. August's Full Moon, known as the Sturgeon Moon, is named after the abundance of these fish during late summer, particularly in the Great Lakes.

You might think observing the Full Moon is straightforward, but there are a few factors that can complicate the experience. This year, during this "extra special" full moon, Jupiter and Venus will align in the sign of Cancer. The energy created by this celestial event encourages us to settle into a support system we find within ourselves, our family members, and our close friends.

The Sturgeon Moon is not just a beautiful sight; it carries deep spiritual significance. In Pagan traditions, this moon honours the sturgeon and symbolises strength, wisdom, and the ability to endure. It serves as a reminder that we are not fragile; we are capable of weathering life's storms. Witches, in particular, embrace this energy, moving through change with confidence and self-care.

In Wicca, the Sturgeon Moon, occurring on 9th & 10th August 2025, represents abundance, sustenance, and reflection. It’s a time to acknowledge the harvest of our efforts and prepare for the changing seasons, both physically and spiritually. The name itself, derived from the plentiful sturgeon fish in late summer waters, symbolises endurance and the power of nature.
